Republican Clint Didier has been trying to get former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to headline political rallies or fund-raising events for him since she endorsed the former NFL player's U.S. Senate candidacy in May.
In June, Didier campaign advisers told POLITICO that Palin described herself as "all in" for Didier. They hoped to schedule two Palin events, one in eastern Washington and one on the west side.
Last month, when I visited Didier on his farm near Pasco, he said he still expected Palin would do an event for him before the primary. That could have given his underdog campaign a needed boost to get past GOP establishment favorite Dino Rossi and take on Sen. Patty Murray in November.
But with just a few days before primary ballots are counted Aug. 17, a Palin visit isn't looking likely.
Didier had been trying to get Palin to commit to an event Saturday.
But Didier campaign consultant Kathryn Serkes told me via e-mail today that event "looks like a no... we can't wait any longer to plan, so will plan without her."

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a thread hijack quite like this one.
She’s not that popular in Alaska, I guess.
You’re right. My HUGE mistake. I got the candidate confused.
I am thinking JOE MILLER of Alaska!
Clint Didier is the great candidate from WA state.
I’ll ask the mods to delete my posts!!!!
I got the candidate’s confused! Mega apologies, pissant.
I’ve had Joe Miller on my mind since yesterday!!!!
I’ll hit abuse on all my posts!
You don’t need to remove it. It’s not as if it was a bunch of Murkowsi posts. LOL
Well, I think (and hope), I hit abuse with appropriate explanations on all of my mega mistakes and I sure hope they’re deleted.
I think when you wrote “all in” my thoughts returned to Joe Miller, and that’s when I went back to that thread because I had noticed last night that her pic wasn’t on his headline page, and because your article here quoted “politico” I was off and running...LOL.
I am now calmed down (I think) and awfully sad if she’s not going to make it to WA state to campaing for him in person. I doubt that she’s a raving hit in your state, but I’m sure she is with conservative supporters of Clint’s!!!
I think Palin is popular here. Not everyone is like ol Pissant (though my wife never could stand her for some odd reason).
Even though I focus on the negative here re Palin - mainly to kill the idea she’s in for an FR coronation - she has made a fair number of good endorsements, as has Huck, Mitt, etc. Didier was a gutsy pick on her part, and a good one. This is one case where I wish DeMint, Coburn and crew would have BUTTED the hell OUT. There is no explicable reason either should prefer Rossi over Didier.
“I” know your reasons for slamming her here, but you go overboard sometimes, and need a whipping! I’m not looking for a coronation either, but I think you know that too. Heck, I’m not sure she’s going to run, becuase I firmly believe she’s a patriot first, and not into playing the role of martyr or, God forbid, loser, not with our very Republic at stake. She’ll run only if she determines she can win the WH, not just the Republican primary.
If Clint doesn’t pull this one out, he’ll certainly be the one to take out that Cantrell in 2012 if he’s willing to give it another go, and provided the Republicans make the good showing this year and hold true to all promises, then come back in 2012 to take the rest of the nation by storm.
Sarah will have very long skirt tails! (I just had to thrown that in). :)
Thank you! You’re the best!
Carry the ball over the goal line, Clint.
I so pray and hope!
He's such a GOOD man and conservative!!!
My going overboard started with the Perry and Fiorina endorsements then accelerated when she told Greta, “I agree with him (McCain) on immigration”. The overnight mushrooming of the FR Fiorina fan club that started kneecapping DeVore REALLY pissed me off.
Yet, instead of folks here taking pause, and treating her as another politician who in their minds was better, more inspiring, shrewder, etc than the projected name brand competition (Huck, Mitt, Tpaw, etc), they began furiously spinning, swarming on any contrary opinions and/or suggested opponents, and treating this nice 40 something woman as if she has already earned Reagan or Washington type reverence for her short career; and complaining to the mods and everyone about “haters” when they were busily kneecapping the competition. That strikes me as beyond asinine.
Of course I know many of you here don’t take it to that extreme, yourself included. But I’ll be damned if I want to see the next version of FredRepublic. Once was enough.
As for Clint, if he loses, my guess is he will go back to farming and forget it, until people start harassing him to run against the other dingbat.
