(CNSNews.com) - Conservative groups are expressing concern that David Hansell, an openly homosexual man and former AIDS activist, is currently serving as the acting head – the assistant secretary – of the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Hansell is the former director of legal services and deputy director for government and public affairs at the Gay Men’s Health Crisis, a homosexual activist group that has lobbied the federal government on HIV/AIDS.
“It is very troubling that someone with his background has such a high position in this particular agency,” Peter Sprigg, senior fellow for policy studies at the Family Research Council (FRC), told CNSNews.com.
Hansell actually holds the number two position in the ACF, as principal deputy assistant secretary, but has been carrying out the duties of the assistant secretary job until the Obama administration nominates a replacement for Assistant Secretary Carmen Nazario, who resigned from the position earlier this year.
The Senate would have to confirm the president’s nomination.
Sprigg claims that Hansell has already used the power of the position to cut funding to states that do not permit homosexual couples to adopt children.
In January, the Family Research Council learned that Hansell had conducted a series of meetings aimed at forcing Florida to lift its ban on same-sex adoption, Sprigg said.
Now, as acting assistant secretary, Hansell is lobbying to cut HHS financial assistance for all Florida adoptions if the state doesn't change its policy, Sprigg told CNSNews.com.
“We have heard from private sources,” Sprigg said, “that he has been pushing for a cutoff for funding to states like Florida, which have a ban on adoption by homosexuals. Now we have defended the Florida law -- their right to have that law -- both because of the legitimate preference for placing children with a married mother and father and because of the risks of placing children with people who engage in a lifestyle that is harmful to them as individuals and to society as a whole.
“And we understand that he has been working to undermine that law even in the absence of any federal statute, which would authorize cutting off funds in that way.”
Sprigg told CNSNews.com that he is not at liberty to divulge the identities of the private sources who informed him of the alleged meetings.
Hansell has also worked for the New York City Department of Health as the associate commissioner for HIV services, and was commissioner of the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA), a state agency charged with “oversight of support programs and economic assistance for low-income New Yorkers.”
In a profile piece on him in The (Albany, N.Y.) Times Union, Hansell responded to a question about whether he felt “pressure to represent” the Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender (LGBT) community.
"I've been told that I'm the first openly gay man appointed commissioner in the state,” Hansell responded. “I think that it's a tribute to both Gov. (Elliot) Spitzer and Gov. (David) Paterson. I feel that I bring with me to this job a commitment to serve that community, as well as everyone in the state. And I think it’s a reflection of how far the LGBT community has come."
Though he would not grant an interview to CNSNews.com, Hansell did respond by e-mail to the following question CNSNews.com posed: “Given your track record at Gay Men’s Health Crisis and as an influential leader for the LGBT community, do you have any plans or goals to implement programs or policies to promote the LGBT community in your position at ACF?”
Hansell wrote: “The Administration for Children and Families is dedicated to improving the well-being of the American people. Our programs help families achieve economic success and independence, support comprehensive childhood development, promote health and disease prevention and support engaged fatherhood and healthy families.
“Under my leadership, the goals of this agency will remain the same, to ensure that all eligible Americans have full access to our services and programs.”
Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality, compared Hansell to Kevin Jennings, a former homosexual activist whom President Obama appointed as assistant deputy secretary for the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools at the U.S. Department of Education.
Jennings came under public scrutiny last year for how he handled a situation as a teacher in a private boarding school when a 15-year-old boy informed him about a sexual relationship with an older man. Jennings, who has written and spoken of the incident, claims he told the boy “I hope you knew to use a condom,” but did not report the information to authorities.
“Obama, more than any other president is putting in place people who will implement the pro-homosexual and pro-transsexual agenda that he wants to carry forward," LaBarbera told CNSNews.com.
The FRC’s Sprigg, meanwhile, said that Hansell, who is pushing for adoption by same-sex couples, gave testimony on July 29 before a Senate subcommittee in which he said, “Children who have a quality relationship with their father are more likely to stay in school and pursue higher education and are less likely to be sexually active, or give birth out of wedlock at a young age (13). Unfortunately, too many fathers today are not engaged and participating in their children’s lives.”
Sprigg, however, said same-sex marriage and adoptions are the deliberate imposition of fatherlessness – or motherlessness – on children.
“With this same-sex marriage ruling in California, we are seeing an agenda being promoted which says that families which are deliberately fatherless are just as good as families that have both a mother and a father.
“It seems there’s a bit of a contradiction there: The government policy is saying that fathers are important to children, but the gay movement is saying that fathers are entirely dispensable for children – that having two mothers is just as good.”
Indeed, they call for not only acceptance, but affirmation and celebration of this behavior as normal, natural,and even as desirable for everyone. There is nothing shadowy or secretive about this agenda—in fact, it has become nearly impossible to avoid encountering it. Homosexual activists want us to believe that their homosexual “orientation”is something they are born with, cannot choose whether to accept or reject, and cannot change; and that it does no harm (to themselves or to society), while being protected by the principles of the Constitution.
In short, they see nothing wrong in one man inserting his pee-pee into another's poo-poo. Another marvelously clever aspect of their 'love-making' is ingesting fecal matter. Is it any wonder these untidy ones get sick?
Additionally statistics prove that the majority of serial killings are perpetrated by homosexuals. Celebrate that, perverts!

Please read IbJensen's comments. Sums it up. All I would add is that it is nothing short of hellish that a tiny (and fluid, as people can and do leave the "gay" live) minority of sexual fetishists are destroying with good success the moral and social fabric of our country (and they're doing this all over the world as well). The freedoms of speech, association and religion are being destroyed and this is their goal.
