Indeed, a recent Rasmussen poll indicates Castle — an eight-term congressman with a long independent streak — is a 12-point favorite over the Democratic candidate, Chris Coons. O'Donnell, meanwhile, is running 10 points behind Coons, Rasmussen found.

That poll was sloppy. It used half the sample size of the July poll and the results of an opinion question indicated Delawareans are not hurting by the recession. I find that hard to believe.
