The American public has a more positive view of the Tea Party movement than both leaders of the majority party in Congress, according to a poll released Wednesday.
An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll showed that 30 percent view the grassroots conservative groups very or somewhat positively compared to 34 percent who view them very or somewhat negatively.
But House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was seen positively by 21 percent of those polled and 46 percent viewed her negatively. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) received a lower positive rating, 11 percent, but also a lower negative rating of 31 percent. The numbers indicate that the public is dissatisfied with the way Congress has been run; 32 percent believe that this Congress' overall performance and accomplishments are "one of the worst." Only 4 percent say that Congress has done above average or excellent work.
Likewise, Republicans running for Congress have tied their opponents to Reid and Pelosi and many have attempted to attract the support of the small-government Tea Party groups, which party strategists view as having the edge on energy and enthusiasm going into the fall midterms.
But it's not clear how that strategy will play out in November.
The Democratic Party is still rated higher than the Republican Party. Democrats lead in positive ratings 33-22 percent, but both have similar negative ratings, 44 and 46 percent respectively.
Democrats have countered Republican efforts by painting the election as a choice between their policies, which they say will help bring the country out of the economic recession, and the GOP, who they claim will restore policies that put the country into a tailspin.
So far, the public is divided on whether or not they want Democrats or Republicans to control Congress after this year. Forty-three percent prefer a Democratic Congress and 42 percent want a Republican Congress. The survey's margin of error is 3.1 percent.
President Obama, whom Republicans have also made a target, receives better ratings than Reid and Pelosi. Forty-six percent have a positive view of the president and 41 percent have a negative view of him.
Obama is one of only two public figures, groups or countries in the poll to have a higher positive rating than a negative rating, the other being First Lady Michelle Obama.
The poll surveyed 1,000 adults between Aug. 5-9.
Sounds racist to me!
I am going to stockpile popcorn for the eventual crybaby drama sessions by the media in November when all hell breaks loose on the damn democrats!
So even with a 9 point Democrat edge, the Tea Party still wins. :)

BS poll, BS result. Out of this 1000 people polled 500-600 will not vote this November. The only polls that should be conducted are LIKELY VOTER polls. Any other poll is junk media polling pushing for a predetermined result.
The Political propagandists at NBC are really really really reaching here. NBC gave the Dems a 9 point edge in this poll and the best they can come up with is the Dems in a tie.
EVERY other poll shows much different, less favorable results for the Dems
“HOT AIR had some details on this survey, which make it even BETTER news: the polling sample was SKEWED to give Democrats a 9 point advantage.
So even with a 9 point Democrat edge, the Tea Party still wins. :)”
Nice!
That might actually be enough to make up for the fraudulent voting. Nowadays, you got to account for that.
Last night on NBC, that toothy WH guy and Ann whatever her name is twisted themselves into modern art trying to SPIN this poll fav for Zero.
It was so obvious it was humorous.
Correct. The pollsters always cite a "margin of error per cent" figure.
I alwyas take the worse case scenario and add 10% for voter fraud.
Example: If the numbers for a Conservative are 53% favorable, with a margin of error +/-3%, subtract 3%, and subtract an additional 10% for voter fraud; the result is realistically 43% favorable.
"Slam Dunk" Hannity doesn't get it.
So even with a 9 point Democrat edge, the Tea Party still wins. :)
Nice... thanks for that info, SoFloFreeper!
At my age I just pray that I live long enough to see the *witch* (sp?) Pelosi, the traitor Reid and their whole cabal DEPOSED with predjudice!
Ten percent? Voter fraud is definitely a problem, but aren’t we giving them a little too much credit?
That’s about as loaded (with BS) an article as I’ve seen in a while. Misrepresents everything.
I love the comment about how its unclear what impact the Tea Party movement will have in November. I guess the Tea Party impact on the last mid-terms is invisible. And so must the Tea Party supported conservative candidates who’re winning GOP primaries.
The ultimate Marxism killer is always its failure to recognize and act on reality. The whole “philosophy” denies the basic human needs to be free and prosper. Instead it promises a regimented, gray mediocrity that punishes excellence and ambition. All in the name of the Marxist version of “fairness”.
I suppose you mean 40%. But I doubt that the last digit is significant anyway.
One factor you didn't mention is that the pollsters skew Democrat because they assume that they are harder to poll, not having phones and such things. But I could put one to that and point out that conservatives who are fed up with the polling business actually tend to be harder to poll.
As I am myself. Anytime a pollster calls me, I simply refuse to answer questions.
Guess I could lie and answer like a lib, the way some people do just to mess with them, but I won't be bothered. It's fake news, however you look at it.
