Pantano, a Marine Corps veteran of two wars, called on other administration and congressional leaders to take a cue from Gates action and make serious and deep cuts in the spending levels of their own agencies and offices.
Here is his complete statement:
Yesterday, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates announced military spending cuts in programs that he has found to be bloated, redundant, and unnecessary. Good for him. Now we need a similar commitment to cost-cutting and fiscal responsibility from his fellow cabinet members, other agency heads, and, of particular symbolic importance, Members of Congress, who should immediately consider reducing their salaries and office expenses.
If Secretary Gates can find some fat to trim, then so can every other bloated government agency - bar none.

Well done! Go Pantano go!
Every Federal bureaucracy BUT defense should be cut. ALL Federal salaries should be SEVERLY cut! And term limits, term limits, term limits should be immediately imposed!
Every bureaucracy has fat to be cut, almost by definition. A lot of military spending is critical, but it wastes plenty of money, too.
Yes, there is waste in military spending. But Defense is the only thing definitely required of the government. Everything else has been added. Especially in these dire days, Defense must not be cut. Unfortunately under Obama the government has become so corrupt, we cannot trust any of them. SO AS I said before. CUT THE SALARIES OF EVERYONE PAID BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. THAT MONEY IS OURS! What is more, let’s fire the liberals!
