While campaigning in Nevada Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told an audience of mostly Hispanic voters: "I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay. Do I need to say more?" Watch the video here:(snip)
Reid's racially-charged comments come as the Nevada Democrat is trying to boost Hispanic turnout in his bid for reelection this November. Polls show, however, that Reid's positions on immigration are very unpopular with Nevada voters in general. Reid supports the Obama administration's lawsuit against Arizona over its immigration law, but 63 percent of Nevada voters oppose the lawsuit, according to a Rasmussen poll.
Reid voted against a measure to complete a 700-mile fence along the Mexican border in May, but 68 percent of voters nationally support building a border fence, according to Rasmussen.
I’m sure, like most senior Dhimmis, Harry has porkology down to a fine art. And he’s got most NV voters believing the goodies will stop if he ever leaves.
I really don’t expect him to lose.
They’re trying to create the same “being a Dem is part of my racial identity” crap for Hispanics just as they’ve done with blacks.
Nobody who has had to live under a commie regime fails to recognize the Dems for what they are.
Harry, there are a lot of things that you don't know, but you demonstrate that on a daily basis.
I don't think you're assessment is accurate. Remember, Reid is the idiot to declared the Iraq war was lost and thereby aiding the enemy and demoralizing Americans...fortunately his treason didn't pay off. Reid said "Social Security is not in crisis." And then there is the famous Negro dialect comment...and that's just a few examples of how Reid is an idiot. Now provide some examples where he's brilliant.
I'm not certain that is a factor related to intelligence...although I suppose it depends on how you define savvy political operator. Would a politician who keeps getting reelected be considered savvy? I can point to a number of politicians who are particularly stupid...one is my own state senator Patty Murray who thinks Bin Laden is popular in Afghanistan because he set up day cares and built roads, for example and she's not even the dumbest.
Prior to our exchange I've actually given this area some thought, and it seems to me that more than an act of savvy it's more an extreme act of chutzpah and dishonesty, and since it's congress and the senate the police the congress and the senate and most of America isn't paying attention they are doing as Pete Stark said they could do, which is just about anything they want.
So what you're pointing to as an example of savvy I see as an example of extreme dishonesty. Now maybe you're correct, and it's an intellectual decision to read the situation and decide to be massively corrupt and dishonest, or I may be correct and they are massively corrupt and dishonest and are somewhat lucky to find themselves in a situation where no one holds them accountable.
