"Tea party" groups are planning a large rally on Sunday in Arizona, near the Mexican border, to support both the state's hard-line stance on illegal immigration and the political campaign of the local talk show host who is challenging Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
Candidate J.D. Hayworth, a former congressman turned conservative radio commentator, is one of dozens of scheduled speakers for the morning rally on a remote ranch about 100 miles south of Tucson.
Others include Sharron Angle, the Republican challenging Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.), and Sue Krentz, the wife of a rancher killed near the rally site. The unsolved shooting death of Rob Krentz, who had spoken out on the problem of illegal immigration, prompted the state legislature to pass a law this year empowering police to question people if there is a "reasonable suspicion" they are illegal immigrants.

"We're trying to stand behind Governor [Jan] Brewer while the federal government is proceeding with its lawsuit challenging Arizona's right to protect its own borders," said Tim Selaty Sr., vice president of a tea party group called United We Stand for Americans.
Selaty said the group timed the rally to have maximum impact on Arizona's Aug. 24 Republican primary. Hayworth, a hard-liner on illegal immigration, is challenging McCain, who until recently had been a strong voice for creating a path to citizenship for those in the country illegally.

FUJM!
This is exactly the kind of synergy we need. Having our firebrands feed off each other, push each other and help each other can only help the cause.
Way to go, Sharron!!
Go, JD, GO!!

Because she supports McCain's stance on amnesty (see my tagline).
This has got to be some kind of new record. An anti-Palin bash, at post #4, on a thread that isn’t even about Palin.
Maybe this will generate some more energy for JD’s campaign days before the final votes. I just wonder how much coverage the Arizona TV, newspaper and radio outlets will give this event?
I missed it.
Where does it say Angle is rallying for JD? It just says she is one of the speakers at an immigration rally in which he is another speaker.
“It just says she is one of the speakers at an immigration rally in which he is another speaker.”
Exactly. Just the wapo trying to create a story where there is none.
JD needs all the help he can get against McCain. The Arizona Primary is in 21 days. Can he close in on McCain?
The Sharon Angle thing is not from WAPO, it is from the original poster. The WAPO title is correct.
This and/or other write-ups about this rally should be posted several more times before Sunday.
Anything in parentheses or brackets on any thread I post is ALWAYS added by me. You two have both been around long enough to see my posts, so this should come as no surprise to either of you.
As for the alleged inaccuracy in the parenthesized title I added, I am presuming that the folks attending and speaking are participating in support of the rally's stated goals, namely against illegal aliens, against amnesty, against John McCain, and for J.D. Hayworth.
If you want me to contact Sharron Angle's campaign to request an official statement, simply because you want to nitpick, then fine, let me know.
Thanks.
I also append extended titles in parentheses .... but I make sure it is something from the article.
Just because she is there against illegal immigration does not mean she supports Hayworth.
