I remember the forecasters back then telling us it was just a rainmaker and when it became a hurricane we were told it would be minimal, nothing to worry about, just a lot of rain, then it got closer and turned into a cat 3, and stayed stalled on the coast of Galveston for close to 24 hours. Oh yeah, I remember that storm, and in some ways was worse than Ike.Lots of rain and lots of trees down, tons of glass in the street downtown.

Oh yeah, I remember that storm, and in some ways was worse than Ike.

That storm taught me to never assume any storm in the gulf, even a weak one close to land, is to discounted. What was it, the morning of the 18th Alicia was a Cat.1, then later that night she made landfall a Cat 3 heading dead on into Houston. One rocky 12 hours.
