White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, drawing criticism for his remarks on the “professional left,” sent his deputy to fill in for him an hour before he was scheduled to brief reporters on Tuesday.
The White House announced that the deputy press secretary, Bill Burton, would take reporters’ questions at 1:30 p.m., 30 minutes later than Gibbs was scheduled to brief.
Gibbs had singled out liberal naysayers in an interview with The Hill’s Sam Youngman. “I hear these people saying he’s like George Bush. Those people ought to be drug tested,” Gibbs told him. “I mean, it’s crazy.”
Hours after the story was published, Gibbs apologized in this statement to the left-leaning Huffington Post, The Washington Post’s Greg Sargent and The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder:
“I watch too much cable, I admit. Day after day it gets frustrating. Yesterday I watched as someone called legislation to prevent teacher layoffs a bailout -- but I know that's not a view held by many, nor were the views I was frustrated about.

Gibbs thinks the press should work with him and the admin.

My thoughts exactly. On the one hand, he's just slapped his last friends in the press. On the other, it sometimes helps to have a fool as press secretary because he's defending the indefensible anyway. And, too, you have to think of his family at a time like this. They may not want him back.
He stayed in Iraq.
He increased the troops in Afganistan.
He appointed Petraeus.
He didn't prosecute the "torturers" as war criminals.
He funds the WOT whenever needed.
The "professional" left is MAD.

That's part of the beauty of Gibbs: it doesn't matter if what comes out of his mouth has any resemblance to reality. Besides, the only people sad to see Gibbs go would be the satire writers.
Gibbs will have a break down before he resigns or is asked too.........He is a perfect liar willing to lie about anything with a straight face, obama needs that and its hard to find.
