I told her she must have been dreaming, yes we have DISH, so I guess it must have been hacked?
I heard somewhere that there was an errant satellite up there that was doing weird stuff.
I’ve read some pretty harrowing things about the 1978 PSA crash in San Diego. Apparently anyone who witnessed the scene on the ground will never forget it.
Thanks so much.

All I can say is that I am sure glad Barry was not on board
God Bless those on board
Here is a link to the Nat’l Guard statement on the crash:

My son-in-law is active Air Nat’l Guard at Clear, AK but wouldn’t be working this crash I wouldn’t think, although he is in security forces.
*cough*
Must have something stuck in my throat.

According to Foxnews.com this is a developing story and here’s an excerpt, which is the only thing I saw that was different than any other story on this:
State and federal officials say severe weather has hampered the rescue operation. Hayes said about five good Samaritans were on scene early Tuesday helping the crash victims. He said he was told by Alaska State Troopers that there were “eight or nine” people on board, though a spokeswoman for the troopers, Megan Peters, refused to comment.
She says all the agency can say, for sure, is that a plane went down and crews were “aggressively” trying to reach the crash site but having difficulty doing so.
“I can’t go beyond, ‘We’re responding to a plane crash,”’ she said.

You must have a particularly dull cubicle if you’re wanting to hear all about the latest ‘celebrity’ carryings-on....

;)
A 1957? If that is the year it was manufactured, no wonder it crashed. Prayers for the people on board. Hope everyone is alive and recovers.
Sometimes those that are out of state will hear events before we do here in Alaska.
Our weather has been nothing but rain, rain and more rain for two months now, lots of storms and I have lived here for 18 years and the weather is acting bizarre, more like tropical weather.
Ping.
Aircraft that old are often totally rebuilt with almost every piece modernized.
Think of a ‘57 Chevy that now has disc brakes, a modern day powerplant and transmission, almost all of its bodywork is new.
Now compare the ‘57 Chevy rebuilt and modernized against a brand new car coming off the assembly lines.
Sometimes older is better.
OK. I never thought of that. So its just a 1957 chassi.

What’s a CVR?
All the best aircraft up here is about 30 or so more years old. New aircraft is too expensive, the older stuff gets stripped down to the bare frames, gets new skin, new cables, new avionics and powerplants, the FAA is pretty strict about stuff like that and how many hours between inspections.
I have piloted small aircraft.
Alaska aircraft have to be rugged, the Beaver is the best up here.
Plane crashes in southwest Alaska; possible deaths
By BECKY BOHRER (AP) 18 minutes ago
JUNEAU, Alaska A plane believed to be carrying eight people crashed in southwest Alaska and rescue crews were trying to reach the wreckage early Tuesday, authorities said.
Alaska National Guard spokesman Maj. Guy Hayes said the Guard was called to the area about 20 miles north of Dillingham at about 7 p.m. Monday after a passing aircraft saw the downed plane.
Hayes says there are possible fatalities. State and federal officials say severe weather has hampered the rescue operation.
Hayes says about five good Samaritans were on scene early Tuesday helping the crash victims. He says he was told by Alaska State Troopers that there were “eight or nine” people on board, though a spokeswoman for the troopers, Megan Peters, refused to comment.
