NASHVILLE, Tenn. Family and friends have suddenly found themselves blocked from shipping cigarettes and other tobacco products to American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq because of a new law meant to hamper smuggling and underage sales through the mail...

Doesn’t matter. Active duty get their votes blocked anyway, so what does he care?
Another example of the government trying to make postal service even more expensive. I wonder how many postal employees will lose their jobs over agendas such as this one, due to insufficient budget allotments to enforce the measures.
Gimme a F’n break. It’s too early in the morning for such cheap s**t! Oh yeah, smoke’m while you got’m.
This sort of cloying, smothering, government-as-overprotective-parent crap brings out the purple-faced rage in me. What underage kids are they trying to keep tobacco 9out of the hands of- eighteen year olds in COMBAT, for chrissakes?
Stopping here, explosive stream of profanity just barely being contained.
Tobacco products are cheaper at the PX in theatre. No need to send them through the mail. (I sure would appreciate a bottle of vodka though..........)
To be honest...it’s probably three to five percent cheaper than what you pay at Wal-Mart. It’s not like 1980 when it was thirty to forty percent cheaper.
Pure Unadulterated Bullsh*t.
This law has nothing - repeat NOTHING - to do with preventing kids from getting tobacco products. It has one purpose, and one purpose ONLY; that is, to shut down discount Native American mail order dealers who sell in bulk by mail from the reservation without sales tax, so that the states don’t miss out on their insanely inflated “vice” taxes.
End of story.
Hey Wisconsin, get rid of Herb Kohl! The POS.
try and get a good cigar in the PX.....won’t happen.
“I bought a carton of indigenous smokes for $7 at the local Hajji shop in Basra.”
...how were they?...I’ve heard that they like strong tobacco in that part of the world...matter of fact, when I started smoking, it was Camel straights...they were make from tobacco grown from Turkish seeds.
Brilliant idea. A thriving black market will always spring up when a product is overtaxed or prohibited. Depending on the amount of illicit profits to be made, the Mexican cartels would likely move in and take over the trade. I'm sure they're looking to expand their business.
That is exactly right. So I smoke little seegars now. $9 a carton. Can’r beat that with a stick.
If a Conservative is vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat. If a Liberal is vegetarian, he won’t let anybody eat meat.
Not to the guys that are really remote like the one my gang sends to. I think this merits disobedience.
The troops ought to tell these weasels to go fight their own damn war!
Some day our warriors will come home and with a strong memory. They won't forget how the a$$hats treated them.
Semper Fi
I don’t think they sell them in the PX anymore. You can’t get them in the commissary anymore. These guys are old enough to face a brutal enemy but can’t smoke a cigarette? Sheesh give me a break!
