With all due respect because I know your values...you are as wrong as wrong can be...the boys there showed deep commitment to the values and traditions of the BS by booing. They didn't riot or curse...which would have been disrespectful to the OFFICE...but did express their American First Amendment rights as free citizens by showing their disrespect for the MAN...there is a difference and you missed it.

Bravo to them !!

Dittos on your Bravo. Sometimes you just have to stand tall and allow YOUR voice to be heard. Otherwise...one sits there like a bump on the log and just takes everything that is thrown at them
The Boy Scouts would NEVER have done this if they didn’t feel deep down it was time to be heard.

You may be right. When I thought about it and talked with my eagle hubby, he said he agreed with the boos. After all the President was not there, it was a video, so it wasn’t disrespectful.

I don’t know. I think I hate to see kids be booing a president, any president. Just like I don’t like to see them sassing parents, even unreasonable overbearing parents. ANd teachers, and policemen. I want kids to be always respectful of adults.

And when exceptions start to be made, I worry about how the kids interpret that. Seems to contribute to kids acting like boors. Mine were taught to always be polite no matter what UNLESS THEY WERE BEING ATTACKED OR THREATENED.

PERHAPS THESE KIDS KNOW WE ARE BEING ATTACKED AND THREATENED.

So you may be right in this case. But I worry.

And first and foremost, the first amendment is there to protect political free speech more than any other type of speech. The scouts were completely within their rights to boo, and it is commendable that they did. Nothing in the scout ideals says they should be gullible and naive. In fact, they're supposed to seek the truth, and the truth about Obama deserves some boos.
