As long as these investigations take and with the election only a few months away I don’t see how it will make any difference.

Months are required in this kind of investigation. And if you look hard enough....there’s this mention of the state highways department. I’m guessing some folks won bids for projects at a certain price and other folks came to realize their bid was less yet the state government selected the more expensive price. So when the objections came, the Feds were stuck because it’s obvious that bids were rigged. If the Feds try to just pretend it didn’t exist...they’d be in for rough treatment by the press.
Someone will have to take the fall here, and it won’t be Manchin. Plus, his pick for ‘temp senator’ had no position or authority in this decision...so he’s safe.
