It’s one thing for Mayor Bloomberg to play nanny and hector New Yorkers about smoking and trans fats, as he never stops doing. But it’s quite another for him to grab the flag and start scolding foes of that planned mosque near Ground Zero, as he did Friday.

The mayor was way, way out of line.

“A handful of people ought to be ashamed of themselves,” he huffed.

Well, we know one person who should be ashamed: him.

Bloomberg got downright apocalyptic, calling the controversy “[as] important [a] test of the separation of church and state . . . as we may see in our lifetimes.”

He bashed those who wanted to use the city’s landmarking process to stop the mosque and insisted government has no business prying into its finances.

“Do you really want every time they pass the basket in your church, and you throw a buck in, they run over and say, ‘OK, now, you know, where do you come from?’ ” Hizzoner asked.

Of course not. But that misses the point by a mile — and he well knows it.

The notion that the mosque controversy is a battle over religious freedom is utterly bogus. And it glosses over New Yorkers’ entirely legitimate concerns.

1.There IS NO SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE other then the one line recorded in the US Constitution. All else used today is political manipulation of the Constitution by current Courts.
2. islam is not a religion it is a scourge. It is a religio-politico-socio system used to oppress and control people.

What I find interesting is that all these Democrat/RINO liberal politicians whose policies have bankrupted the city and state for generations seem to be vocal supporters of this Ground Zero Mosque. I don't think it's because they “don't get it”, I think it's because they're not leveling with their constituents.

There has to be more behind it than “church and state” or “American traditions”. I've got to believe there's the threat of the Obama regime withholding financial support ... or worse ... if the mosque doesn't get built.

Freedom of Religion is in the First Amendment.

Not too long ago he said that the attempted bombing of Times Square -- the heart of a city that has been a jihadist target for 17 years -- would prove to be the work of a disgruntled right-winger upset over the health-care bill.

Imagine being able to attack the US, get away with it, and then get away with planting a victory symbol right at the point of attack -- all while you are planning your next attack! Maybe this is what Obama - the foreign occupier meant when he said we have to reach out to the Arab world. This will boost their egos in their continuing war against us. Peaceful infiltration is the peaceful aspect of imperialistic global caliphate hegemonic theocratic state control. They won't ever stop, and you know it deep down.

The significance of Muslims erecting a Mosque at Ground Zero to honor Cordoba the caliphate that conquered Spain -- where the architect of Christian Theology lived in 711 AD -- cannot be overlooked. I don't think it is a coincidence. Does anyone notice these things.

Here's something else to notice; Imam Feisal Rauf, the force behind the Ground Zero mosque, declines to condemn Hamas, which is the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. It has been formally designated a terrorist organization under our law for many years. According to its charter, Hamas's purpose is to create an Islamic Palestinian state by eliminating Israel through violent jihad.

The Muslim Brotherhood explained in an internal memorandum that their work in the United States was as a 'grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within.' The Brotherhood said its tactic would be 'sabotage.'

The 1991 memorandum elaborates that every city should have an 'axis' and 'perimeter' from which this jihad-by-sabotage strategy is headquartered. That axis will be known as 'the Islamic Center.' Islamic centers are to become 'the ‘base' for our rise, the memo says. They are to be the focal point of education, preparation, and the 'supply of our battalions.' Battalions are small cells of fighters. In Muslim Brotherhood ideology it is assumed that, at a certain mature point, when Muslim forces are strong enough, violent jihad will be effective. And Islamists prepare for it. Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi, the spiritual guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, has proclaimed that 'dawa', the stealth form of jihad, is the method by which Islam will 'conquer America' and 'conquer Europe.'

The Saudis have been underwriting the Brotherhood's dawa efforts for decades.

It is boggling that Muslims may erect a 13-story Mosque, named Cordoba House, at Ground Zero while the Freedom Tower and Memorials languish unfinished after nearly a decade.

Will New Yorkers be listening to calls to prayer 5 times a day at Ground Zero when this mosque is erected?

What a joke.
