That's another thing addressed on the Save Our Elk website. The Timberwolf, which was prevalent in the Northern Rockies decades back, has been largely wiped out/driven off/displaced by the Canadian Gray Wolf itself.

The mental image that many wolf huggers have is of cute little Two Socks, from "Dances With Wolves", timidly snatching the piece of jerky from Lt. John Dunbar's hand. If it were a Canadian Gray Wolf, it would have taken Dunbar's arm off, ripped out his throat and broken his neck, then left him there to die a painful death.

Cute and cuddly "big dogs" they ain't. Canadian Gray Wolves are the serial killers of the animal kingdom.
