If the US government was interested in stopping leaks, then it would prosecute, to the fullest extent of the law, up to and including prosecution for treason and a subsequent execution, those people who leak this information.

I don't get why people are so mad at WikiLeaks, they're no different than The Washington Post or The New York Times when they get their hands on classified material.

If more examples were made of people who leak this information (I don't think anyone who is caught leaking such information ever gets punished) then we'd see less of it.

The US Government doesn't necessarily know who leaked this information. It's widely assumed that it's Bradley Manning, who is already being prosecuted for providing other classified material to WikiLeaks. But, if they can link him to this latest leak, they aren't saying.

People caught intentionally leaking classified information are prosecuted on a regular basis, and rarely get away with it unless they are politically connected.

Amen. It’s only when we have a republican president that the elites say it is okay to leak classified information in the name of making government accountable. The current administration doesn’t want to be accountable and therefore leaks are bad for their posture.
