Mayor Bloomberg says Ground Zero mosque opponents should be 'ashamed' of themselves
New York Post ^ | August 04, 2010 | DAVID SEIFMAN

Opponents of the proposed construction of a controversial mosque just blocks from Ground Zero "ought to be ashamed of themselves" for opposing it, Mayor Bloomberg said this morning.

Bloomberg said he also doesn't care where the people behind the mosque and Islamic cultural center will get the money to build.

"People say, 'Do they have the money? Can they raise the money? Where does it come from?' " Bloomberg said during an appearance on his WOR-AM radio show.

A mosque at ground zero is a fitting tribute to the DNC.

I shall react much differently when NYC is attacked next time.

The Saudis and the Iranians are of two different, traditionally warring Islamic sects. Maybe some kind of detente has been worked out with the Saudis to try to keep fratricide in the Western world to a minimum, but Saudi Arabia has also expressed great anxiety about being a possible target of Iran’s atomic project. It is of great intrigue.

He is in the same class as his buddy mac daddy, the liar in chief, there is HIS opinion and nobody else’s matters.

I suppose that comes with money and being surrounded by as* kissers and the arrogance of having to explain himself to the little people.

For those of you in New York who voted for this classless as* i have NO pity for you and you deserve whatever you get.

better yet, they can build when they stop blowing things with people in them up, committing honor killings, beating women...oppressing women.... and all the other little “nicety’s” brought to you by the religion of peace.

Self hating Jew.

Yes, quite accurate. Self loathing is a symptom of liberal mental illness.

Mr. Bloomberg should be tried and shot by a firing squad for treasonous acts against this country.

Bloomberg is as clueless as expected, billionaire or not.

As mayor he should respect the wishes of the people. The mosque proponents should also respect the wishes of the people and move their proposed location to a less controversial place in the city.

But no, just like children fighting over a toy they have to have it in a place that insults most of the country, and advances the cause of Sharia Law.

IMO Bloomberg is either on the payroll or he is a jerk. He must like being called "Mayor Bloomberg." His performance has been weak willed and out of touch, IMO.

The only question left to ask here is: what is Bloomberg’s payoff?

I just cannot fathom the bizarre spectacle of this tycoon-politico going to the mat like this, and fighting tooth-and-nail for such a spectacularly, outrageously, suicidally unpopular cause. All of NYC is up-in-arms over this Islamist triumphalist thumb-in-the-eye that he’s breaking all the rules to expedite. This seemingly explodes all conventional political calculus. This does not compute.

Are the Saudis going to do him a big, fat business favor when he leaves office? “You take care of us now, we’ll take care of you later” is how the Saudis have been buying bureaucrats and politicians in this country for decades now.

What is Bloomie’s price? Inquiring minds want to know.

I wonder how Bloomberg would feel if it was a religious institution advocating bombing just abortion clinics as opposed to everything?

I wonder how he would feel if the Westboro Baptist Church found the dough for a church at the site?

Actually, he might be OK with Westboro since those guys are Democrats and supported Gore for president.

I oppose the building of the mosque near Ground Zero and I am not ashamed of myself. I would be ashamed of myself if I had voted for Mayor Bloomberg, however.

It’s nowhere near enough to Ground Zero to be literally atop anyone’s grave who died there (that is what I first feared). But it looks an awful lot like they want to bring in an ungodly sized mess of Moose (where the heck are they worshiping now, if this is for locals?). Under a Bummer admin is not the time, if ever there was a time, for such a project. Bummer is the sort who would let a Hitler goose step right under his nose and not notice. I see nothing but trouble coming from it once it got going.
