CLEVELAND - UPDATE: All RTA trains are running again after a train fire injured about 15 people and shut down trains between the Triskett Station and East 55th Street. Passengers on the red line could still expect delays lasting until later Friday afternoon.
The incident occurred Friday on a Regional Transit Authority train car.
A spokeswoman for RTA said there were about 75 people on the train when the fire broke out just after noon at West 65th Street and Lorain Avenue.
Those injured were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries, she said.
RTA does not know how the fire started. However, RTA's Twitter feed said it was a minor eletrical fire in the overhead wires.
All the trains are shut down between the Triskett Station to East 55th Street.
There are shuttle buses taking passengers from the downed rail lines.
All trains going west from Triskett are running, all trains going east from 55th Street are running as well.
The company has turned off the power to determine the cause.
Buses bail out fixed rail, again.
Where is Green Willie?
Yeah, I posted this with him in mind. Just another reason why I don’t want to ride the rails.
I've ridden the rails in many countries and never seen anything like this. But hey, at least it wasn't the river! *\;-)

As long as it’s a current story and accurate... I have no complaints. Cleveland has more than it’s share of flaws! Have at it.
By the way, emoticons are so 90s.
LOL. You’re going to get brownfan’s jersey in a knot with that river comment. Other news sources said the doors wouldn’t open so passengers had to bust out windows. Not being able to open windows in modern buildings and public trans has always made me a little uncomfortable.
I musta been precocious then 'cuz I was using them in the mid-80s, even in the pre-DNS era when e-mail was bang-routed.
I won't say I've looked for them before, but I've often noticed signs in conveyances indicating "escape routes".
“I musta been precocious then ... “
If you say so.
Yeah, yeah, you’re special because you’ve been around awhile. you probably used archie, gopher, ftp and even telneted to bulletin boards, before Moasaic showed up? Or even used an acoustic modem to connect to a 300 baud character based bulletin board?
I never did any of that.
You missed all the fun. Barely used archie and gopher and telnet, still use FTP, used BBS for a while from... 1983? (The BBSes then did not use telnet.) And yah, I've been around a while: I go back to dialup timesharing using 110 bps AndJac acoustic modems installed in ASR-33 TTYs. I did my graduate-level programming work on Hollerith cards.
You should just relax about Cleveland. I've been there once (former corporate owner was in a suburb) and I admit my only experience of Cleveland is of a nice restaurant midwinter on the lake next door to a submarine, but it didn't seem such a bad place.
I mean, get a grip; I lived in several suburbs of Detroit back when Detroit was still a nice place. I visited those places last weekend, though I avoided Detroit itself (didn't have time). Are you saying Cleveland is worse than Detroit?
Has somebody been putting you down because you're from Cleveland? They, and you, ought to know better.
“Can you be any more pretentious to fellow FReepers?”
I can, and posters like you give me the incentive.
