Los Angeles, CA (AP) -- Newly released documents show that Bell officials defended enormous salary increases to the California pension system, which decided not to challenge them.

The California Public Employees' Retirement System released documents Thursday noting that its 2006 audit found the City Manager, Robert Rizzo, had received a 47-percent salary increase in one year.

But the assistant city manager wrote CalPERS that the raise reflected Rizzo's contributions to the small Los Angeles suburb, including helping it resolve a multimillion-dollar debt. She also defended pay increases for herself and the City Council.

CalPERS then ruled the city had provided sufficient documentation to authorize the raises.

Bell salaries raise more concerns about CalPERS
The state’s embattled pension system did not act four years ago when it learned about the city’s runaway salaries. The state attorney general and auditors express shock that nothing was done.

CalPERS .. run by ‘Rats for ‘Rats benefit ..

47% percent increase in pay, for doing her job? Mean while people are out of work, losing thier homes and living on the street and forced to take 3 days off a month, that’s about a 10% cut in pay. All salaries need to be frozen for the state.

I might find it difficult to justify a 47% salary increase for myself but I think with effort I could do it. First I have the increase though.

CalPERS ruled the city had provided sufficient documentation to authorize raises for Bell officials....including a 47-percent salary increase in one year.

RED FLAG Bell officials filed official documents to obtain govt monies?

Taxpayers should demand to know the scope and dimension of deceptive and intentionally ambiguous information contained therein.

Bell officials may have violated RICO (the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) by generating fraudulent documents to extort taxpayers and steal govt monies.

L/E should place a hold on all Bell documents. Stealing and conveying (or destroying) official govt records nets 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

L/E should also look at Computer Trespass--a class C felony if access is made with the intent to commit a crime and/or the violation involves a computer or database maintained by a government agency.

Examine all Bell officials' perks, expense accounts, unauthorized 6-figure bonuses, pensions, tax-evading annuities, etc. etc etc.

THIS HERE'S A BIGGIE ---- Bell officials' tax returns will reveal their actual income compared with govt outlays. In particular, examine “interest income” on Bell officials' IRS returns.

Insider collusion to dupe taxpayers is actionable. Jailtime is a MUST.

“Insider collusion to dupe taxpayers is actionable. Jailtime is a MUST.”

Now, Now.

You know that only applies to republicans not rats commiting the fraud, collusion and in many cases outright theft.

Bell, California is in a lot more trouble than we thought. The so-called business savvy of the ousted officials has left the town with a tremendous debt as per this story in the LA Times:
