The underemployment rate as measured by Gallup was 18.4 percent in July, up slightly from 18.3 percent in June. The results confirm that there was no real improvement in the U.S. job market last month.

The underemployment rate measures both Americans who are unemployed and those working part-time but wanting full-time work.

Share The unemployment rate component of Gallup's underemployment measure fell to 8.9 percent at the end of July — down from 9.2 percent at the end of June. However, this decrease was more than offset by an increase in the number of people settling for part-time jobs.

You must understand that as more people go back to work, the higher the unemployment rate wile rise.

Little Timmy Geitner explained that just this week in an interview with George Snuffaluffagus.

Unfortunately I am too stupid to understand this....

0bama just sent 3,000 IT jobs to Sri Lanka. There are at least 3,000 unemployed American computer programmers (myself included) that would have taken those jobs. But Obama is a lying sack of shi’ite, just like we all knew he would be.

Surely this must be an unexpected turn of events.

I wonder how many people couldn’t respond to the poll because they can’t afford to have a telephone any more.

California already has partial unemployment if you have had your hours reduced.

That’s about right. Fact is 1 out 5 Americans is out of Job. Central Bankers are keeping people from rioting by handing out the Unemployment benefits.

Once they decide that all the measure for crowd control and all the riot forces are in place, then the benefits and whatever few rights people have left will go straight out of the window.

I’d like to see what the full-time employment rate is with the government and private sector jobs broken out. Then I would like to see what percentage of the adult population is no longer workering, on social security retirement, disability, and welfare.

This is so weird, I only sleep at my desk about 9 percent of the time.

Also blame the stupid public for watching cable and sat TV. All the networks will prop Obama up even if there is 40% unemployment.

Each network gets about $5 a month from every cable bill based on the channels they own.

If the uunderemployed rate is 18.4 and the unemployment rate is 9.6, by my calculation, the number of people ready for someone to scream GO! is just about at the point someone WILL.

This is so weird

Snap out of it and factor in stuporification. You can measure this 2 ways. The amount of energy it actually takes to shift position (think velcro). Or, (if you leave your seat), the amount of time it takes for ANY re-expansion of the foam rubber you sqwashed.

I had such a slouching problem that I now surf the web suspended upside down. Of course, I’ve had to learn to read the screen upside down. Oh, I just had an idea. What if I suspended the *computer* upside down too... Must be the extra blood helps me have these great eureka moments.
