At least the premise of that show was that the Jeffersons had earned their money by working their rear ends off. George Jefferson, after all, had "clawed and scratched his way up from the bottom."
George Jefferson was a bit of a blowhard, but his wife Weezy kept him in line. It was at the time a funny bit of black/white role reversal that the Jeffersons "moved on up" from Archie Bunker's neighborhood. Most follow-on shows aren't as successful as "the Jeffersons."
