Reporting from Naivasha, Kenya — It may be wishful thinking, but many Kenyans believe a new constitution will cure poverty, slash prices on goods, create jobs, punish corrupt politicians, recover land lost decades ago, bring freedom, investment, tribal peace, higher salaries for common people, lower salaries for politicians — and, according to at least one voter, even make it rain.
Kenyans tired of decades of corrupt governance voted Wednesday on a proposed new constitution that generated a load of expectations.
Though it might not fix everything that people hope, analysts and politicians who supported the document, which was expected to win voter approval, said it could change Kenya forever. It could end decades of corruption, poor governance and tribalism in politics and public service, as well as curb the sweeping presidential powers that many see as the country's biggest problem.

Biden visited Kenya in June to campaign for the proposed draft of the Kenyan constitution.
Well into the article is this nugget:
“The document also tackles the controversial issues of abortion, Islamic courts and land distribution. It allows, for example, the state to seize property for the benefit of the state, and gives parliament the mandate to enact land reform to address inequities and corruption.”

We have a friend who is from Kenya and recently received this report:
“Please pray for Kenya as she defines herself with the approval or disapproval of the proposed constitution which has brought up much division than unity.
It is our prayer that God would open our eyes to see the hidden agendas that seem to favor Islamism in Kenya with inclusion of the Kadhi courts and their exclusion from the bill of rights which is the back bone of the whole constitution.”
Yes, Obama has spent $23 million in Kenya to insure that Islam has free reign and is not obligated to follow the law of the land in Kenya.

So, when’s the next presidential election? At the moment there’s a power-sharing agreement between Kibaki and Odinga (Obama’s play-cousin). Smells like a power-play by the muslim/socialist Odinga! Will there be renewed violence? Silly me! What a question!
A constitution means nothing if you don’t have a judiciary that’s willing to enforce it, as we’re finding out.
There has been a lot of misinformation on both sides ...and a lot of money from outside Kenya going to support both sides. Anyways, the decision is up to the Kenyans, and they voted en masse yesterday. Most are not voting because of Kadhi courts that are included in the old and proposed new constitution, or abortion bills that are included in both the old and new constitution. For most it is to curtail the political nonsense that has been holding back a country that, for all its growth, would have grown far faster without idiots running it.
Anyways, preliminary results are coming out, and it seems that the Yes camp (supporting the new constitution) are at around 66% against 33% for the No camp. A thoroughly solid margin of difference.
As for the introduction of 'Islamism' in Kenya ...that's the funny part.
Maybe they will have an Article 2, Section II stating that a prodigal son can come back and be exhalted or whatever they are going to call their leaders, erh, looters.
This is a style of country Obummer would accel in running. Mindless dopes who love a dictator. The added bonus would be that he would feel at home too.
