Statement by National Incident Commander Admiral Thad Allen:
"Based on the successful completion of the static kill procedure and a positive evaluation of the test results, I have authorized BP to cement its damaged well. I made it clear that implementation of this procedure shall in no way delay the completion of the relief well."

According to the Oil Drum, MSNBC is reporting the cementing will occur on Thursday. Doubt that. There was only one way to stop the leaks. And they stopped all leaks cold. What I think they did was to basically cement the inside of the BOP. So it is no longer functional. They had to do that. It was a very untenable position. If they had to evacuate due to a Hurricane, very likely considering the time of year, then the BOP seal leaks would have bleed mud. Without the feed line from the ship, pressure was too low to hold the oil down. That is my guess. Of course we could just assume that the cement all went down the hole. They still have the ROVs looking for sea floor leaks. That is where the action will be, if any, unless the cement fails. Hopefully they did get a lot down the hole, but the only way I could see them stopping the leaks cold, was cementing them. And there is some white stuff peaking out of the new previously leaking seal joint. Just a little.
OK...that makes sense.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, BP has it all under control. :) How many times have they told the media that they “successfully” shut down that mess they made in the Gulf now?
Are we going to hear not as good “as expected”? Given the track record, I bet we do. I got my tin foil hat on and secure so I am safe.;)

Lots of reasons to be suspicious with the Government and BP...that’s for sure.
I just really hate all of the DoomsDay crowd trying to exploit a very serious situation....and an obvious stupid mistake.
