It should be noted that Grant as President apparently made amends for that infamous order and enjoyed good relations with the American Jewish community in general.

Though my own ancestors were Southern Unionists, I'm glad to see an article that corrects the bizarre notion that the Confederacy was a sort of proto-Nazi Germany.

Unfortunately, history being what it is, it seems one can't defend the South without slamming the Republican party, which is also wrongly accused of anti-Semitism.

PS: There was plenty of anti-Semitism in the North, but Lincoln was not an anti-Semite.
