Greenville (SC) GOP - Resolution of Rebuke of Senator Lindsey Graham
email | August 2, 2010 | Greenville County GOP Executive Commitee

Posted on 08/03/2010 12:25:47 PM PDT by thulldud

Last night, the elected officers of the Greenville County Republican Party presented a "Resolution of Rebuke of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham" to the Greenville County GOP's Executive Committee. By a vote of 61-2, the Executive Committee approved the Resolution.

The Greenville County GOP Executive Commitee is made up of individuals from across Greenville County who are elected at the precinct level. On the Executive Committee, every precinct has one vote.

Below is the Resolution as it was approved:

GREENVILLE COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY

"RESOLUTION OF REBUKE of SENATOR LINDSEY GRAHAM"

WHEREAS, United States Senator Lindsey Graham has cast votes in the United States Senate in favor of TARP, which all but guarantees an increase in the national debt and expansion of the federal government.

WHEREAS, Senator Graham has voted in favor of two of President Obama's nominees to the United States Supreme Court, who possess questionable qualifications and very liberal beliefs that are contrary to the United States Constitution.

WHEREAS, Senator Graham has promoted amnesty for illegal aliens, and continues to promote this premise under the guise of "Comprehensive Immigration Reform".

WHEREAS, by these and other votes, Senator Graham has abandoned the Republican platform:

AND, WHEREAS, both locally and nationally, Senator Graham has repeatedly demonstrated contempt and arrogance towards those members of the Republican Party who support these core Republican beliefs;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Greenville County Republican Party hereby issues this formal rebuke of Senator Graham for his cooperation and support of President Obama and the Democratic Party's liberal agenda for the United States.

FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that Senator Graham will no longer be invited to attend and participate in meetings or other events sponsored by the Greenville County Republican Party.

RESOLVED this 2nd day of August 2010 at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Greenville County Republican Party Executive Committee.

This resolution passed as proposed, without amendment, by a vote of 61-2.

Glad to see my county stand up against Miss Lindsey. Now, if we can abandon open primaries we may have a shot at defeating McCain’s cabana boy.

Or, does your State Party Charter require support for the incumbent candidate?

That's what the primaries are for. Lindsey beat Buddy Witherspoon in the primary of '08, and that was that. He was the official nominee.

Party officers can't openly endorse some other candidate without resigning their office. Individual members can do what they like, iirc.

Since getting into the Senate, Graham has drawn a lot of support from the Democrats. They actually refuse to run against him. The only reason that he had a Democrat challenger in '08 was because a conservative filed for and got the Democratic nomination.

What just happened to Inglis in the Fourth Congressional District needs to happen to Graham as well. 2008 just wasn't the time.

I don’t think Graham cares one iota about this or what the voters think.

I'm sure you're right. He's working for somebody else now.

He’s a brazenly Leftist anus orifice that truly belongs with his compatriot’s in the Socialist/Democrat Party.

Proves how stupid the jerk is. If he were in the Dem Party where he belongs he wouldn’t have to work so hard reaching across aisle to them.

I’m seeing similarities with Graham and the problem we have/had in Florida with Crist. Crist has been able to win elections only with of Democrat support. Once the GOP removed its support, Crist banked on Dem and Ind. voters to put him into the Senate.

For the good of the country, I hope there is another Republican in SC who can take Graham out; or at least pose such a threat he is forced to switch parties.

Too bad it’s DeMint’s year and not Graham’s - if Greene was running against Graham, I’d move to SC just to vote for Greene.
