Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner: Unemployment Could Go Up Before It Comes Down
ABC GMA ^

Posted on 08/03/2010 5:06:41 AM PDT by MindBender26

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner acknowledged that it is still a "tough economy" for most Americans, and warned it's possible the unemployment rate will go up for a couple of months before it comes down as more people enter the labor force.

When they see a little hope that there may be jobs out there, they start to come back in again. And that can cause the measured unemployment rate to go up — temporarily," Geithner told "Good Morning America's" George Stephanopoulos in an exclusive interview. "But what we expect to see, and I think most forecasters expect this…is an economy that's gradually healing, gradually strengthening, businesses starting to add people back."

The economy is not rebounding as quickly as Geithner and the Obama administration would like, he said. Last week's economic report card showed the Gross Domestic Product grew at a rate of 2.4 percent, slower than it had earlier this year.

People should really stop calling Obama and his cronies dumb and stupid. These people far from it. They are incredibly intelligent and know exactly what the hell they are doing and are playin the American people and the rest of government like a fiddle.

There are a bunch more I would like to see unemployed...starting with Obama, Geithner, Pelosi, Reid, Rangel, Waters, ...oh, heck...all of them with a “D” behind their names in Washington. And that “D” stands for DumbArse Donkeys, the true symbol of the Democrat politicians.

"He said "of course we will raise taxes, how else will we buy the votes to keep us in power?" Does he have a clue how deep the hole he is digging really is?"

Where is Morpheus and Neo with the blue pill?

Well the only solution I can see to this is
File a lawsuit along with the Mexican government, to let EVEN MORE illegal aliens into the country. </s>
Does anyone else get the feeling that this regime is purposely working against the American people?

Before businesses begin to use the estimated $1.8 trillion they have set aside, they want a commitment that their taxes will not increase over the next two years. Geithner did not make that promise, instead saying "the business community always wants their taxes lower."

"It's understandable. And you could say that's what their job is, to argue for lower taxes. But our job is, again, to make sure we have an economy that is stronger, that a private sector that's going to grow in the future…Our responsibility is looking out for that public interest," Geithner

Is he really so incapable of seeing that giving the businesses the lower taxes like they want makes the economy stronger? Tax rate and the economy are conjoined, Geithner, you idiot!

I'm glad we've got Obama's Brain Trust around to tell us these things. In other news, the weather could get warmer before it gets cool again.

Of course unemployment will go up before it goes down.

The federal government will start refering to the unemployed of 18 months or more as ‘permanently retired’ in order to claim that the unemployment rate is falling while Obama and pals gleefully take credit for the greatest economic turnaround in world history.

Wasn’t it BO who said the unemployment rate wouldn’t go over 8%?

Yes, and zero also said that the stimulus was needed to keep unemployment under 10% too. I'd bet the REAL unemployment figure is close to 15%.

Unlike in the Matrix, we don’t need a blue pill. We need to wake from this nightmare.

There is no pattern for this in Greek mytholgy, or our history.

An old man who was a boy during the thirties depression recently told me that this is NOT a depression because, “We don’t have soup kitchens now.” I asked him what he would call having forty million people on food “stamps”. He didn’t seem to have an answer for that, not surprising since he is an admitted Obama supporter.
