I don’t think they’re necessarily conservative. Some who are in business or medicine might be. However, a large number of them are government employees. The first woman mentioned in the article works at the University of MD. MD Congressional District 4, which is mostly based in PG County, is D+31 and Steny Hoyer has been able to survive the last handful of elections because of heavy support in the PG County portion of his district. As long as the majority of blacks are on the government payroll, they will more than likely remain strongly Democratic, even if many define themselves as “socially conservative”.
Still don’t understand the mentality, hout. It’s very obvious that the blacks in this country are not students of history. If they were, they would understand that the Dems wanted to keep slavery around and that conservative ideals are what fought to give them freedom.
