One thing to consider is the size of the great Lakes.
Most folks don't realize their size and depth, especially the
giant lake, Lake Superior.
"The Great Lakes could cover the entire continental United States with over 9.5 feet of water."

The money quote from the Mlive article you posted.
"I don't think it's going to have much impact on Lake Michigan. You have 70 miles of river and all of the booms set up to stop it," said Rick Rediske, a senior program manager with Grand Valley State University's Annis Water Resources Institute.
"There's not enough oil to damage the lake," he said.
The opinions of Rediske and other water researchers conflict with earlier dire warnings from Gov. Jennifer Granholm about a "tragedy of historic proportions," should oil reach the big lake.
Even if oil did make it downstream, a significant portion -- 30 to 40 percent -- likely would evaporate along the way, Rediske said. And oil that did make it past the large, marshy ecosystem southeast of Saugatuck likely would wash ashore not far from the Kalamazoo River mouth.
"I think (Granholm) went a little overboard," he said.

...the Canadian company which owns the pipeline ... confirmed the breaks discovery...

Odd...the image of a natural gas pipeline vent that is posted at the link
has absolutely nothing to do with the story.

Bp partners with Enbridge on the pipeline. So we know it is not a coincidence that this has happened in Michigan.

Don't attribute your assumption to the rest of us. "We" don't know it at all.

Seen on the front page of the Daily Conditioning this morning when I went for my mornin coffee...”Oil leak has some asking for Higher Regulations...”
Ruffled my feathers to see how easy it has become for the so called media to brainwash the masses of mush.
