Like any vehicle, the Volt isn't for everyone. No one ever said it was. If you live in an urban high rise you might have a parking garage and in the future there might be chargers available. In your case you might be better off with a traditional hybrid or a two-mode hybrid. There are a lot of those available. If I were in that market, I'd go for the Ford Fusion Hybrid. Great Car. But for someone like me with a 220VAC outlet in my garage, the Volt is ideal. I park my car in my driveway just a few feet from the 220V Dryer outlet. Yes I don't be able to use the dryer and charge the car at the same time but I think I can easily accommodate that.

It’s competition, the Nissan Leaf, has over twice the range (100 miles per charge) and costs $9,000 less at $32,000.
