I want to mention here that President [Jimmy] Carter had called Ashraf Qarbal, the then-Egyptian ambassador to Washington, telling him that he had called President Sadat trying to convince him not to let the Iranian shah enter Egypt, as it could [hinder] the Arab-Israeli peace talks, but he had not received an answer.

What a nasty chicken-$hit Carter was and is.
