Rangel has struck a deal

Oh please. No one expected him to be punished by the full extent of the law. We're not blind. He'll get a slap on the hand and told he was a bad boy.
Rich, Limousine liberals always protect their own (Because they're all just as corrupt. How else did they become multimillionaires without working a day in their entire lives? Oboma has never had a real job, yet he's worth 5.6 million? They know they could get caught themselves someday.)

I thought there would be a deal all along. Don’t want to be racists about all this crime.

This isn't going to look good for democrats. First, they let the black panthers off. Now, they're letting one of the most corrupt politicians in Washington off, too. Could it be because he's..... black?

(Let's ask the anti-crackers at the DOJ.)

Well then there's another idea to add to the Tea Party Wish List:

The Ethics Committee, and any other committee that investigates and has authority to punish Congresspersons, shall have no present or former Congresspersons... preferably no members with any party affiliation, past or present.

Some of my others:
Term Limits,
Congressional Budget spending caps (both as a percentage of the previous budget, and as a percentage of the previous year's revenues... and make that percentage under 100 for the first decade)
Slowly but assuredly withdrawing from obvious violations of the Tenth Amendment (Education, Healthcare, Housing, etc), where the states can and should have the final word
Massive controls and oversight over lobbyists
Simple anti-gerrymandering rules (eg, a simple mathematical ration of area-to-perimeter eliminates the really ugly ones that guarantee party affiliation)
Reversing every election rule that favors the current two major parties over smaller parties
Lowering taxes across the board, at every income level that actually pays taxes.
Limit Congressional staff, as well as Executive staff (eg, including no more unaccountable czars).

But that's just me. I'm a racist extremist who wants the elderly to die in the streets so that CEO's can make more profits or something like that.

Now... suppose this had been Michele Bachmann. The level and severity of punishment would be limited only by imagination.

Hey Gonzo, and all you other dumbasses out there, this was just a 5 member ethics investigative panel, 3 Democrats, 2 Republicans. The two Republicans are Jo Bonner of Alabama and Doc Hastings of Washington.

Per the article, it still has to go to the subcommittee, committee and possibly the full house. How ‘bout we get the details before we start going provacateur on the GOP?

Now Rangel’s saying there is no deal, but can we believe anything he says?

He say's he's innocent, too. This guy could be a stand up comedian.

There was more to it than just an IRS violation -- they hit him with offering an 800-number on the Floor during his SO speeches (for his "To Renew America" tapes, this was not kosher to do) and also for allowing a member of his campaign staff to do work for his Congressional office, or vice versa, I don't recall that specifically -- Joe somebody, I think it may have been Gannon, it's been a long time.

The thing is, they were LOOKING to nail him for anything and they blew it so out of proportion that people STILL think he did some illegal.

I totally agree. This is how Marxists fix “problems”, even if it means placing our soldier’s lives at risk. They don’t care.

Hell, we have an impeached former federal judge who ousted for bribery and malfeasance serving in congress when he should be serving in jail.

He was acquitted at trial and his impeachment trial was not heard before the full Senate, this is why Hastings serves in the House today.

"He would already be in jail if he were white."

You forgot the word "Republican" after "white".

I find it amusing that they will try to dump this thing on the little corporal for all of it. He deserves his own punishment for what he did, but not for the admins misdeeds.

Wrong. He was acquitted in his criminal trial on a technicality: at the last minute, his co-conspirator decided that he wouldn't testify for the prosecution and accepted jail time instead. The House of Representatives voted 413-3 to impeach the b*stard and the senate voted 69-26 to remove him from office. Both bodies had Democrat majorities and only two-thirds of the senate is required to remove him from office.

To this day, he still tries to play the victim card due to his color, so there is a lot of misinformation around. The House could have refused to seat him when he was elected just five years later, but he was swept in on the Clinton coat tails and the jackass party had a super majority similar to now.
