"...Megrahi was released from prison in Scotland on the grounds that he had terminal cancer and would die within three months. Here he is a year later, at home and apparently thriving. A cancer specialist, Dr. Karol Sikora, examined him and is the one who gave him three months.
It turns out that the Libyan authorities paid him, and he says now that Megrahi might live ten or even twenty years (and, of course, that hes been quoted out of context)."Doesn't the administration have a responsibility to the families of the Lockerbie victims to ensure that the examinations of al-Megrahi were credible if it was going to allow for a release for "compassionate" reasons?

It turns out, according to the Sunday Times, that Richard Lebaron, deputy head of the U.S. embassy in London, wrote a letter recommending Megrahis release as a better alternative than his death in prison. So, when Obama speaks about all Americans being surprised, disappointed, and angry to learn of the release, he is expecting us to believe that he had no idea what his officials were doing. Unbelievable.Lebaron didn't initiate the letter if you read it. He was passing on a demarche from Washington. He was the messenger, nothing more.

Breaks my heart. Here I was thinking that Libyan doctors had found a cure for cancer.
