And whose ass does Lakin give a rat about? Other than his own? I mean the man had a legal defense fund up and running long before any charges were filed. What is his real motivation in this? The good of the Army? The good of the country? Or the good of Lakin?

Perhaps Lakin took that oath to defend the constitution too literally.

Or he has made a judgement that Obama will go rogue and attempt a coup after he replaces Gates as SecDef.

Two members of the Weather Underground launched Obama’s political career in their Hyde Park residence, who knows what this man will do to stay in power permanently.

In general I would guess that Lakin feels the US is in great danger, hence the high stakes act of resistance even if it meens his own immolation.
