Not sure if this is such a big deal if the police still want to enforce the law. For example, you pull over a driver who was speeding. The guy cannot produce a drivers license, doesn’t speak English, and has no insurance. You have a reasonable suspicion that he’s an illegal alien. You contact ICE. Where’s the holdup?
I'm listening to Fox & that's not quite true!! They CAN ask about immigration status if they are ARRESTED - but not if they are stopped for a traffic violation, for example & are NOT arrested. If arrested - their legal status CAN be checked & if they are illegal, be turned over to ICE for deportation.
Now the state must ask the judge to reconsider her ruling first before sending an appeal to the court.
