The administration's response was WORSE than a "mildly worded dispatch". Obama told Scottish officials that the Lockerbie bomber’s release on compassionate grounds was ”far preferable” to his transfer back to a Libyan jail.

Obama ENCOURAGED his release.

Yeah, and apparently there are more documents that the administration has refused to release (which nobody in the journolista/mainstream media is talking about), which doubtless proves this:

Scotland’s First Minister told the US Senate Committee “The US government has refused publication of various documents ... The Scottish Government cannot breach the long-standing practice of holding in confidence government to government communications, by publishing this material without the permission of the US Government. The Senate Committee may wish to pursue these issues.”
