I dunno. The Beverly Hillbillies was about how sane, downhome folk didn’t let money go to their heads. The Jeffersons enjoyed their money but it was clear the money was made through good hard work in the free enterprise system.
I would analogize the Obamas, perhaps, to a whole lot of major lottery winners who squander everything within a very short period and end up worse than before they won. Clearly Obama is squandering whatever credibility he had with the “regular” or “common” folk he talks about frequently.
That sounds about right, I’ve never actually watched the Jeffersons, I’m happy to say. I was going by that obnoxious “Movin’ on up” song that always came on as the introduction which had me scrambling to change the channel.
