Gov. Rick Perry earlier today spoke at a press conference announcing the new San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SAHCC) office. “With your focus on Hispanic-owned businesses, you have helped countless companies break down barriers and contribute to the local economy in very tangible ways,” Gov. Perry said.
The governor credited Texas’ growing economy to a business friendly climate that attracts new businesses and jobs.
“Your success not only serves as an inspiration to your neighbors here in San Antonio, it also rolls out a welcome mat to other employers who are looking for a friendly community with an unbeatable work ethic,” Perry said.

Somebody wanna tell me when Hispanic businesses HAVEN’T been successful in San Antonio? Gimme a break, Anglos are about 30% of the population here! Hispanics are the large majority! And EVERYBODY’S okay with that, except the occasional crank. A completely unnecessary pander.

Another piss-off for me: Will Gunn was the better candidate for TX-23, but Quico Canseco got the nod. One of his main supporters, a columnist someplace in Texas, argued that, basically, Hispanic voters are racist so we need to support the Hispanic-surnamed candidate. I posted it back in the spring - and Gunn is a mix of black and Asian!

I imagine that, having graduated from high school in Caracas and lived for 3 years in Panama, I speak better Spanish - and have a greater regard for the culture - than 90% of the latinos in San Antonio. Being pissed at pandering - and that’s what it was - has no bearing on pissant’s annoyance.

i think a lot of religions help them..i know the Catholic church helps illegals
our little town is filling up fast with illegals..businesses are bringng them in. got one here that just recieved several million in stimulas money and they worke about 75 illegals...tysons brings them in also...then there are all the businesses that cater just to hispanic..that brings in more...and they no speaky engleesh
