I thought the Schlaes article raised an excellent point. I love SP, but thought the Mama Griz ad was pretty fatuous. As Amity points out, the problem with big gov is logic, not a lack of maternal freaking instinct.

AS was bold to break from the girl-power pack and discount the idea of female wisdom as a universal solvent. She was bolder still to point out the value of risk-taking (which is more male) as a necessary complement to risk aversion (more characteristically female) in a banking industry.

I might only part company with AS here: To develop such rules-based systems will require the input of intelligent females as well as intelligent males.

I don't agree that the banking system necessarily requires female—or male—input to run well. It might bump along just fine with a female percentage of .00097, as it had in the past. What is crucial is—as Miss Schlaes points out—that the business be run logically. And the only way that's possible is if it's free from interference by governmental nannies, thugs, and idiots.

Pro-Illegal Immigration, Amnesty Shales?

what about the men who voted to enact the 19th Amendment? Women couldn't vote at the time, right? So why don't we blame men?

You're right. We should.

The 19th Amendment was a campaign of post-WWI, goofball egalitarianism. It ain't the women's fault. And it ain't married women who pull the "female" vote toward socialism and unicorn farts. Married women vote like married men. Too many unmarried women vote to spend other people's money on themselves. Individuals vary both ways, of course.

Liberty and good governance for all is the point, right? If you're interested in an electorate with a stake in the survival of society, male property owners are a probably a better sample than most. Ditto for married men and women. Meanwhile, at this point, I'd settle for "live citizens."

Pissant -

Obviously you've got to be retired (or unemployed or a federal government employee) as you seem to spend every waking hour scouring the earth for anything you can find to bash Sarah Palin.

I think your hatred of Palin even exceeds your hero worship of Duncan Hunter.

You know, you're pretty boring - even for a kook.

“Hunter/Bachman are virtually unknown outside of political circles.”

Bachmann is actually becoming fairly well known nationally as she is on TV a lot and active with the Tea Party.

Hunter has even been forgotten in his former congressional district and the 600 watt radio stations he gives interviews to don't cover much area.
