The point you are missing is that the folks saying “no oil found” are talking about NEW oil appearing around the wellhead site. The spots listed in the link are “old news” areas of oil already catalogued. If they’re in Bourne and Ponchartrain, they probably left the wellhead a month ago.
That is not the way the ABC article reads. It reads like they can’t find oil in the gulf or marshes. Go read it:
