I lied about nothing. And I’m wriggling about nothing.

I know I'm jumping in late on this thread but, seems to me if you read Phyllis' comments literally and exactly "Ditto, apparently, among female ex-governors. "Sarah Palin is the total package.[sounds like a compliment to me] She's got a cute husband. She's got a lot of kids."

But is she ready to be president? "I don't think so."
[doesn't sound like a knock-down or a dismissal - sounds like WHAT IT IS - she's giving a this-side-of-no, not a flat-out 'what, are you kidding?' but more like a wait-and-see.

Got some people really stretching here to do the outright cut-down of Sarah Palin.

BTW, you assume I hold the same view of other real conservative women as I do Palin. How many Bachmann threads have I started the last few years? Plenty. Even some before anyone knew who Precious was.

I live in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts, so most of the people I encounter outside my sphere of acquaintances are liberals (although there are more conservatives up here than one would think)

I have some people I respect and appreciate, even though we are as far apart politically as can be.

In particular, I worked with a woman (just retired) who was one of the most brilliant people I know...and a liberal. (I know...I know...just bear with me) We worked closely for years, and she would ask me questions about why conservatives took a particular view on something, so I was her window into the conservative mind.

We went out for dinner one night (I took her, to thank her for helping me with a project) and she asked some pointed questions, which I responded to at length, everything from conservative economics, foreign affairs, 2nd Amendment rights, the media, immigration, personal freedoms, homosexuality, everything. She let me talk for perhaps a half hour straight, and just listened.

She actually listened.

She couldn’t rebut anything I said, because I had the facts on my side, and when I was done, she asked how it was that I had such an in depth understanding of so many issues, and I said: “Because it is my duty as a citizen to have an understanding of these things (as best as I am able) in order to intelligently participate in government by the people.”

She respected that.

Now, on a humorous note, I work with another woman who is a raging liberal, and she somehow didn’t know I was about as far away politically from her as two people could possibly be. But we work together fine.

During the lead up to the 2008 election, I was working on a project (with my other liberal friend) and we had to enter a bunch of test patients into one of our systems. As a nod towards me, my friend created a test patient named “ALASKA, SARAH”, which we used again and again for testing.

At one point, this other liberal woman came over and began ranting: “I CAN’T WAIT UNTIL THIS ELECTION IS OVER, SO I WON’T HAVE TO SEE THAT WOMAN’S NAME AGAIN!” (Referring to Sarah Palin)

At this, I calmly said “Well. I hope she wins, because I would LIKE to see more of her name.”

This other woman looked at me...her mouth dropped open in amazement, and she stammered “...you...you...you’re...you’re one of THEM!”

It wasn’t an act! She was SHOCKED! How could this nice, competent man be...a CONSERVATIVE! Why, I probably voted for BUSH and DICK CHENEY and supported HALLIBURTON!

What a frikking riot! She was dumbfounded!

To each there own.....but that’s not good enough to the worshipers. They have to make sure to swarm everyone who thinks as I do.

If Duncan Hunter endorses Palin at some point, pissant will have an aneurysm.

If she runs and wins, there's no doubt he will as she's likely to be the closest candidate to his own political beliefs.

If she runs, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he declares for her early......

Wouldn't it be grand to watch the pretzel untwisting that would go on? :-)

So, I asked Mrs. Schlafly -- you don't really think she's ever called Ms. Schlafly? -- when might this country elect a woman president?

"I don't see it happening because I don't see one coming up the line in either party," she said. Democrat Hillary Clinton lost to Barack Obama because "people don't want to elect a feminist because they are not likeable. You have to be likeable to be elected." She paused a moment before musing that "the best route is probably being a governer," never mind that at this moment, "the pickings among [women] governors are very slim."

Ditto, apparently, among female ex-governors. "Sarah Palin is the total package. She's got a cute husband. She's got a lot of kids."

But is she ready to be president? "I don't think so."

Old Phyllis Schlafly (and in her case, I really mean 'old') is a legendary conservative warrior princess and the movement owes a lot to her tireless efforts, but she is dead wrong in this case.  I can't think of many substantive policy issues where Schlafly would disagree with Palin.

Therefore, I suspect the differences must be petty and superficial - maybe Phylis always imagined the female trailblazer to the White House would be her, and she just can't cope with that fact as she faces the final curtain in her bitter later years.

Palin is not short on execotive experience. Read her history. Why is Palin so well liked in Japan, and China, for example? You might want to find out. Her accomplishments have been far under reported.

By the way, I’m not a huge Palin fan . . . I just think you are a knuckle-dragging idiot. If it makes you feel better to imagine otherwise, go right ahead.

Tell me toots. Was it whackness (sic) when I blistered Huck and Mitt and McCain and Rudy? Nah, that was being an upstanding member of the FR community. As soon as it got to Fred, and I exposed his mediocre (at best) record, then I was enemy #1 and suddenly a idiot giving Hunter a bad name.

Funny how history repeats.

It's funny to watch the contortions now:

Women should not be allowed to vote.
Are you sure about that?
PALIN-WORSHIPPER!!!

Actually your posts show an absolute hatred for Palin. No one is "swarming" you. You post hate threads and then play the victim. Not very conservative.

I’m postive that Hunter will endorse Palin if she wins the nomination.
