This morning a tiny clathrate (methane hydrate) storm engulfed the BOP and new hydraulics control panel. Last for 20 to 40 minutes.

In this video the cable on the left held the new Hydraulics panel. BOP on right. ROV video feed was freezing every now and then. Note at the 27 second mark in the center an animal or object floats left to lower right. Notice its speed and compare that to tiny clathrates that were smaller then a golf ball in size. The clathrates accelerate in the flow.

Tiny Clathrate Storm at BOP

In this video you can see how fast the clathrates can accelerate in the dynamic flow. ROV video feed was freezing every now and then. At the 50 second mark the new hydraulics control panel can be seen. At the 1:23 mark estimating max peak speed was 20 feet per second.

Tiny Clathrate Storm at BOP Fast Acceleration

In this video the amazing dynamic vertical flows can be seen in the clathrate storm. Perhaps the clathrates themselves are helping to develop the storm currents. This is due to the methane gas dissolving or diffusing which is giving them propulsion and acceleration.

Tiny Clathrate Storm at BOP Vertical Flows

The clathrate storms are a new anomaly, but the dynamic currents are developing sediment storms on the bottom. We saw the base of the BOP slightly buried yesterday, now the ROV below comes onto the Tool Crib and find the tools buried. Attempts to clear them with thruster flow, but not successful.

ROV Tool Crib Buried

So they need a new tool crib design. Solid walls with a closing solid lid. Would suggest a balloon float to find the tool crib if it gets completely buried.

I think it’s just great that you are getting those video captures on YOUTUBE, on record, so to speak.

As of today I purchased a new PC (Window-7 ops), and have been configuring it to meet my tastes. So now I can get back to viewing the many videos and have a player that is supported etc., that for the past few weeks I had been cut off from due to everyone under the sun suddenly not supporting the older Firefox browser and Window ME system I had been using. Yeah for Marine_Uncle! He is getting back into the game.
On serious notes. Thanks both of you for your continued postings. I have a bit of catching up to do from the past few days.
JAHA. I shall be checking out the 12 ROV cam displays on a more regular basis at this point.
Ernest. I opted out for a low cost e-Machine with a simple AMD dual core, 4gb RAM, 500gb 7200 RPM hard disk, $99 HP Laser Jet Printer (yes... got it at Best Buy), and HP 20" LCD Monitor.
It will suit my needs for the most part.
Both. Thanks again for your continued diligence in postings what is going on in the GOM.
