President Obama, who just a few weeks ago said he doesn't have time for TV "theater," will appear on ABC's "The View" Thursday. The show claims it is the first time a sitting president has done daytime TV.
It follows a pattern of this presidency I've described often here as: When the going gets rough, the president goes on TV -- often in entertainment venues that guarantee he wil;l be celebrated and can control his message. This visit looks like a direct response bto the criticism he has received for his administration firing USDA worker Shirley Sherrod last week.

But, in the contemplation of the show, I wonder how the format will accommodate his teleprompters. Seems like it will be awfully hard for the witty (/s) impromptu banter the girls are so well-known for, with PO having teleprompters. I’m sure the pre-approved questions have already been handed to them.

When Bush destroyed the economy and the world as we know it with his illegal war and eight years of failed economic policies, how did you ever think you’d be able to take on such dismal failures and save us from the brink of disaster in such a masculine and classy way, with all the vacations and golf outings. You are so cool and neat-o, the way you’ve saved us all from Bush’s devastation. How did you feel about that?
Obama: (Reading from Teleprompter) That’s a great question, Joy. You’re right, Bush did leave me with a mess, what with his eight years of failed economic policies and illegal war. I mean, I’m pretty brilliant, and amazing, and I was born on Krypton (girls giggle), but I think I have saved you and all your viewers out there from the brink of the disaster that Bush brought you to. I would love however, for Elisabeth Hasselbeck to just come out and say “Mr. President? Why don’t you just release the original long form of your birth certificate so America can put this question of your eligibility to serve in the Oval Office behind them? Do you have something to hide? You’ve spent upwards of 2 million dollars when you could have just paid $12 bucks and been done with this, why would a smart guy like you blow a couple million dollars for no reason?”

So, on the View this week we get to see the Liar in Chief speak to the world through a gossip program
