From what I can figure out, the area of the ranches being talked about is about here:

Plug it into Google maps and you can see there is really nothing there. No structures, small parcels of property. I don’t know about this story.
I don’t know about it either. I can see them having a media blackout, for sure, but it seems some locals in the area would know the truth and it would go viral, and it hasn’t.
Your coordinates are about 16-17 miles northwest of I-35 on Mines Rd. Look for the oval track back towards I-35 - that’s the ~10-11 mile point.

There is a Border crossing station at 27.42.05.70N, 99.44.32.50 W
Looking at the territory with Google Earth I see lots of fence lines, country road, small and large buildings, etc.
