But in one of its most surprising moves so far, it has done the opposite, proposing what would be the most radical reorganization of the National Health Service, as the system is called, since its inception in 1948.
The plan would also shrink the bureaucratic apparatus, in keeping with the governments goal to effect $30 billion in efficiency savings in the health budget by 2014 and to reduce administrative costs by 45 percent. Tens of thousands of jobs would be lost because layers of bureaucracy would be abolished.
In a document, or white paper, outlining the plan, the government admitted that the changes would cause significant disruption and loss of jobs. But it said: The current architecture of the health system has developed piecemeal, involves duplication and is unwieldy. Liberating the N.H.S., and putting power in the hands of patients and clinicians, means we will be able to effect a radical simplification, and remove layers of management.

“Perhaps the only consistent thing about Britains socialized health care system is that it is in a perpetual state of flux, its structure constantly changing as governments search for the elusive formula that will deliver the best care for the cheapest price”
It’s actually rather simple - it’s called the free market!
Yeah, and Canada too, supposedly! They’ve been talking about dismantling some of their socialist health care system as well!
Funny but in all my (not as lofty i admit) experiences i have found that redundancy creates inefficiency. Savings of course could possibly, maybe mean more assets to be allocated?
God save us from well meaning elitist fools.
You’re talking about the Stupid Party, right? Sorry, just a bit pessimistic today.
Obama is a fascist and traitor to the USA - His plan has always been to destroy the country. He knew from the beginning that socialized medicine would collapse the economy.
OBAMA SHOULD BE TRIED FOR TREASON!
Yeah, this won’t change the RATS agenda. They are ideologically driven and immune to logic and evidence.
All that , and they’re on the terrorist side all the time too .
This could be made into a great nation wide advertisement .
Sorry, tht would be Labor, not Liberals. (Although it’s probably Liberals too.)
“. . . putting power in the hands of patients and clinicians . . .”
But the best way to put power in the hands of patients and clinicians — the best way to make the healthcare industry RESPONSIVE to the wants and needs of patients — is through private ownership of the means of medical care. Not just “decentralization”, but PRIVATIZATION.
Privatization is the best, most efficient, and only really effective method of decentralization. It puts economic decision-making back into the hands of individual healthcare consumers (i.e., patients), and therefore incentivizes medical providers to be responsive — through innovation, cutting costs, improving quality, in short: chasing the consumers’ dollars and competing with one another for their business — or go out of business.
I keep waiting for America to wake up. I believe it to be happening, but how do we fight the extensive and selective area voting fraud.
It’s no wonder BO hates the Brits.
Now if we could just get them to lift th ban on Michael Savage.
bttt
He should go to England and demand a trial.
Mark Steyn was accused in Canada of "hate speech" against muslims. He happily went to Ottawa and demanded a trial and got one. The judges punted. And Canada started to reconsider their own laws about free speech. They could not allow the defense to present the facts about muslims in the open trial. Mark Steyn has a funny set of balls. The case was closed and everybody was told to leave the courtroom there and don't come back:)
"We are the ones we've been waiting for."
