Yes, but one should still use them, right? Do you think our withdrawal from Vietnam, Lebanon, Somalia was precipitated by the lack of weapons?

Tactically, it is not a trivial problem to confront 300 speed boats loaded with explosive and attacking our carrier close to their shore. I am afraid that we may lose a carrier under such circumstances quite soon, and the consequences will be enourmous.

There were enconters back in the eighties when Iranian speedboats took a run at some US ships. They didn't get too close before being fired upon. But of course then we had an American president, too.
