Tropical Depression Three is going to become Tropical Storm Bonnie sometime today. And guess where it's headed.

BP has already halted relief well drilling and evacuated all non-critical vessels from the area -- and may soon evacuate everyone from the area. The well is capped for now and hopefully won't pop open or crack any more leaks during the delay.

I believe the maths is something like .5 x wavelength is the maximum depth at which water molecules would oscillate. This storm would have to churn up waves with a wavelength of 10,000 feet to even lightly disturb the bottom. THAT WOULD BE NUTS!

After that big oil spill in Mexico a few decades ago, there was a big mess heading towards Texas, until a hurricane blew by and after the churning, it basically disappeared.

I think if it gets broken into small enough droplets, it will get metabolized by bacteria or oxidized very quickly.
