A Facebook note recently posted by Sarah Palin in which the former GOP vice presidential candidate called the planned mosque near Ground Zero "an intolerable and tragic mistake" was deleted from the social networking site -- apparently by Facebook users who reported the note as "racist/hate speech."
The note was originally posted on July 20 but disappeared; Palin reposted it today, with an addendum saying. "The original post of this statement (on July 20, 2010) was somehow unintentionally deleted by mistake or technical glitch."
However, it seems that the "deletion" was actually caused by Facebook users who reported Palin's note as containing "racist/hate speech." There was at least one campaign on Tumblr to have users report Palin's note.
Tumblr blogger "moneyries" -- also known as Brian Ries, a contributor to NBC New York orchestrated one such campaign -- posted on July 22: "Sarah Palin's Facebook note 'has either been deleted, or does not exist.' SHE HAS BEEN REFUDIATED!!!"

Yes
This incident really draws a sharp distinction between those who see the insult a Muslim Mosque next to Ground Zero would be and those who prattle on about 'tolerance' without realizing the ramifications of effectively bowing to the wishes of those who share a religion with the same people who willfully murdered almost 3,000 human beings on September 11, 2001 and now want to erect a symbol of that same religion that is an insult to the memory of those who died.
This kind of selective amnesia is one reason why the media quickly stopped running film of the burning World Trade Center and the horror of people jumping to their deaths to escape the enveloping flames. Flames caused by a hijacked airliner flown by young Muslim fanatics seeking to 'honor' their god by murdering people. How many clips of that film have been seen on TV since a few days following 9/11? I haven't seen any - and I doubt we ever will again. It would spoil the game of playing 'tolerance' and 'understanding' that the left enjoys - if America and it's people are the victim.
However, Muslims seem to play that game very well, don't they? Crying about 'religious freedom' (try building a Christian church in Saudi Arabia), 'tolerance', 'reaching out', blah, blah, blah. All the stupid buzz words that send a tingle up liberal's legs. It's a sham. They want to build a symbol of what they consider a victory over America, and the brain-dead folks that authorized this monstrosity played along. The NYC mayor, Michael Bloomberg, a fake 'Republican' (yeah, right) is just as bad, but who would have expected better? I didn't.
Sarah Palin gets it - so the left wants to silence her. It won't happen. This Facebook 'glitch' is almost funny if it didn't, once again, demonstrate the petty nonsense liberals will engage in to silence opposition. They failed. They'll keep failing. Sarah wins. She'll keep winning. God bless her.

UPDATE: Noyes (A spokesman for Facebook) emails with an update:
“The note in question did not violate our content standards but was removed by an automated system. We’re always working to improve our processes and we apologize for any inconvenience this caused.”
Riiiiight.
I’d pay to see that.
Maybe their automated system deletes, without human intervention, if there are a certain number of complaints about a posting. They need to instead have a moderator review before allowing deletions. Works on FR!
Just darn. Another name (Brian Ries) to add my intel files. When TSHTF there is going to be a very target rich environment.
I've taken to "reporting" anyone remotely offensive now. Others should do the same. Hell, we could organize and pick a digg user per day to report. Just for fun. No reason to actually use digg. Except boredom.
I still see it on my Facebook page!
We should all duplicate her post on our facebook pages!
.
Nice English, Ries. You hammerhead.
Anyhow, it now appears that she has been "un-refudiated". To coin another new word.
Isn’t it amazingly funny (not HaHa funny)how the liberals and blacks have such strong affinity for muslims regardless of the situation?
Or "defudiated"?
Facebook is run by leftists.
If so, they're not doing a very good job of keeping the conservatives and those against Islam and those against the mosque in New York City - off of Facebook, then ... LOL ... [because they're all over the place on Facebook ... ]
Normal people have better things to do in their lives than flag postings. Lefties have no life and are full of self-loathing and hate because they have nothing to look forward to and really despise their miserable putrid selves.
I don't know that the conservatives and Israel supporters don't have enough time to flag those anti-semites there and pro-Islamists. I just banned one guy a few hours ago from a page for being radically antisemitic. And then there's the JIDF on Facebook (the Jewish Internet Defense Force) who does a real good job of it, too. And there are a ton of others who are all other those guys ... they're doing it ... :-)
Palin doesnt need no stinkin Facebook. She could launch her own social networking site bypass FB all togethe
She does a pretty good job of it on Facebook. I wouldn't advise Sarah Palin to leave that network. It all works to her favor.
Riiiiight.
No, they're pretty much - right on the money there. There is a problem with the "automated system" in which those (like Muslims) can "gang up" on some post or person and "mass report" them and the computer deletes it. That is a problem and I sure do hope that they can work out the problem somehow. I'm sure they don't want to have a person "manually read" everything that gets a complaint - so I'm not sure how they can really work it out. But, it does need to get worked on. I can give you some examples of "mass reporting" and a website that was geared towards that ...
