WASHINGTON Federal officials on Thursday defended their response to historic flooding in Tennessee that killed 22 people earlier this year, while acknowledging they could have done a better job of warning the public of the potential devastation.

And this ladies and gentlemen is what makes Congressional hearings absolutely a waste of taxpayer funds. Congress critters grandstanding for their own cause which has nothing to do with the topic at hand.
Hopefully Cohen will be gone after this election.
Well, they can draw attention to their theories until the cows come home. My company in St. Louis is taking up a collection tomorrow to be sent to Tennessee Middle Valley to help the victims out. That’s a whole lot better than pointing fingers at Mother Nature. If Rep. Cohen wants to get up on his soap box, rather than roll up his sleeves and get the funds down there, that’s his call.
You know, if Bush had blamed the federal response to Katrina on Global Warming, things would certainly have turned out differently. What are the odds any demmies do well in Tenn this November?
Rep. Steven Cohen, a Memphis Democrat, said such violent storms are becoming more frequent as a result of global warming.

He called on climate change skeptics to take notice and join efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

“The devastating levels and extent of the flood inundation was not conveyed in a clear and effective manner,” said Gary Carter, director of hydrologic development at the National Weather Service.
Another major failure. From the most transparent administration in history.
What a bunch of ignorant asses.
Look on the bright side, at least he’s not worried about Tennessee tipping over.
My medication must have just kicked in...to me that name looked like john’s peedie instead of john speedie. I need to get some rest.
Gee I heard the The Tennessee Valley Authority(a GOVERNMENT org) was resposible for flood control in that area. I guess that it is just one more example for US Government FAIL!
Once a century flooding in a conservative region dominated by hard-working and self-sustaining Americans who reach out to help their neighbors in distress - no media bloviation and racial fommenting to be had and no electoral shenanigans and special interest groups to pander to.
Is it really a shock that THIS administration turned a blind eye to this catastrophe?
I may be wrong about this, but wasn’t that the flood where the governor asked for federal assistance, and Obama refused to help?
Marx said everything was political. There is not a stone, a blade of grass, a disease or a puff of wind that the Democrats won’t spin into a political cause, to be turned against Christians, conservatives, capitalists or white people in general. Every thought, effort, word and gesture must further the agenda; truth, morality and humanity are obscured to irrelevance.

No that wasn't this flood. FEMA was on the ground within about 48 hours of the event. The hardest hit and larger metropolitan areas were declared federal disaster areas very quickly, although the Feds lagged behind declaring some of the more rural areas.
Well said.
No doubt the MSM will vilify Hussein & Co for their pathetic, life ending performance just at it did Bush after Katrina. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Hey, we got Joe Biden to tour the Grand Ole Opry House to inspect the flood damage and repair work while he was here last week pumping up the floundering TN Democratic Party. What more could we want?

I put out nearly 100 hand outs today in my neighborhood. Even with sun block I got sunburned, but it was worth it.
