My guess is, they will talk about it between now and November, holding a little of that vain hope aloft for their moderate and independent voters until after the election. Afterwards, the all-powerful commission will say that, unfortunately, the U.S. can’t “afford” to extend the breaks, what with the deficit and all. The Dems and Obama will boo-hoo for the cameras and snicker in their private drawing rooms.
Good point. Slick Willy promised tax cuts for the middle class and in 1993 during his first year in office he came out and said “OOPS! Can’t afford those tax cuts!”
