And is quoting the wrong character.
This whole incident was a tragedy.
I don’t know. It seems too pat. It’s like they’re reading a script that completely exonerates the cops.
The date for the transcript should be 19 July, not 29 July. Must have been a typo on my part.
Hmmmmm...
According to this he was shot IN the STORE. Then it says he was in Front OUTSIDE. Which was it?

It will be interesting to see how testimony and tapes, if any, backup the characterizations of Eric Scott on the “transcript”.
I have no problem with this transcipt.
It’s the in-store videos that will really tell the truth.
What you wanna bet we’ll never see ‘em.

Last mention of him being inside the store was at 18:14. Shots fired at 19:11. I didn’t see mention of Officers entering the store.
We walked from the center of the store, to the front area, and was confronted there.
Add into the mix the delay in “real time” info. When the dispatcher announced he was in the “center of the store”, that means an E911 call-taker had just been told that by someone on the phone, and had to relay it to the dispatcher.
So person on phone sees him and then tells the call taker that where he sees him. The call taker has to tell the dispatcher, who then has to tell the cops. Theres another easy 30 seconds there if everything is ideal. (which it likely isn’t)
There was certainly a minute and a half from him being in the center of the store,,to being shot outside in that pavillion. Plenty of time for him to do that. It makes sense.
Not to mention that a minute before that he was in sporting goods, he was mobile.
Any word on why he went off his nut and started throwing merchandise around? Heatstroke type injury maybe, people in that shape can behave strangely? Anyone know? Also that line about telling the Manager he was a green beret and allowed to carry? Thats not rational talk. I vote some kind of heat injury on him. Autopsy should be able to establish his hydration rate.
They said he was ED? Emotionally Distressed or something?
Also described as having a black 9mm handgun. Witnesses said his weapon was in a zippered case. Or is this the gun they didn’t find until he got to the hospital? But somehow the manager knew it was a 9 mm. /s
Sounds like they were gunning for bear. And ONLY based on the description of events coming from the Costco Manager. Too bad we will never see any of the video tapes from this tragic event.
It seems real enough. The link to the audio was posted over on Nevada shooters website. It does not answer too many questions for me though. I still am of the mindset the LVMPD acted wrongly here. There is a website that is police scanner related and they record and archive stuff. This one comes from that website.
If this matches the eventually released audio, then what will that mean? Maybe this is the script they plan to use when re-recording the audio.
My hometown cops doctored a 911 tape to protect their friend who assaulted me. (Should have been felony 1.) I gave up on pressing charges because of this. How do you fight a corrupt organization that is supposed to be protecting you?
No longer trust them at all. Neither should you.
Sounds like they thought they were dealing with an ED (emotionally disturbed person) and called for a CIT, (Crisis Intervention Team/Training). They also asked for ambulance, which would not go straight up to the door by would stage nearby with a man with a gun call.
Interesting about the manager reporting to be a Green Beret with a concealed carry permit himself. Wonder if thats true? And if so, why would a Green Beret make up stories about someone tearing the store up?
All the radio traffic is recorded and at least some of it will become public at some point and ALL of it during discovery during any court proceedings.
I was in Las Vegas in July once, and was astounded at the reality of the heat behind those numbers we often hear. I still think that if an otherwise good, decent, guy starts acting erratically in that type of heat, the answer probably lies in the confusion of heat exhaustion or heatstroke.
Knee jerk cop haters aside, the response itself sounds like a lot of thought was going into not forcing him into a violent alternative. The quiet evacuation, having medical stage nearby, making efforts to see that there weren’t a lot of screaming sirens, etc.
I think he went off his nut, and the cops did pretty good. Whole thing is sad, maybe the autopsy will give us an answer as to why he was acting that way.
“What you wanna bet well never see em.”
I read ‘somewhere’ this morning that they were having ‘trouble’ with the tapes. I wish I could find that article again.
“they are requesting CIT”
They were requesting crisis intervention team officers who specialize in mentally ill type things. That was the store requesting it based on his actions looking like he was high or mentally ill.
@13:18 “The manager is a Green Beret and is allowed to carry a 413.”
Exactly,, since no costco manager would be allowed to carry a gun, and since Special Forces guys avoid calling themselves a hat, and since if the manager did carry a gun, revealing it to a 911 call taker would cost him his job,,,, it sounds like this is *most likely* a poor transcription of his telling the manager he is a green beret and allowed to carry a gun.
Since no mention was ever later made of the manager being armed, and the guy was a US soldier, that makes more sense to me.
Manager tells him “you can’t bring a gun in our store,,,”
Guy says “im a green beret, im allowed to carry a gun”
